The Nigerian Stock Exchange continued on a negative note today as the All-Share Index and Market Capitalization dropped by 0.34 percent to close at 25,741.94 and N8.230 trillion, respectively, when compared to the previous trading session's figures. See graph.....

Sector Analysis

The BANKING sector emerged the highest traded sector today with a volume of 102,944,414 valued at N792.241m in 2,799 deals which represent 37.9 percent of total turnover. INSURANCE sector with a volume of 71,304,754 worth N94.968m in 191 deals. OTHER FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS sector traded 48,071,373 units of shares valued at N24.038m in 41 deals. The CONGLOMERATE sector recorded a volume of 16,180,850 valued at N89.693m traded in 215 deals, while FOOD/BEVERAGES sector recorded 7,732,889 units worth N195.216m in 496 deals. See chart.....

Gainers & Losers

The highest gainer today was CAP PLC with an increase of N1.47 to close at N30.96, GLAXOSMITH followed with N1.25 increase, then BERGER and NASCON with N0.55 and N0.31 increase respectively. While on the Losers` section NB PLC emerged the highest as it dropped N2.88, followed by UACN with a drop of N1.60, while ASHAKACEMENT and OANDO came down by N0.95 and N0.60
